Here is a man and his dog sitting lakeside and watching a rainstorm across the lake in Toronto.  This is one of my four photos (so far) that made it to CHCH TV for their viewer submissions during their weather segment of the evening news. 

As a change of pace - or at least change of orientation - here is a portrait format for an orange sunrise over Lake Ontario.  This orientation better highlights the reflection of the orange sky in the calm lake below.

 When the wind blows from the west and the Seagulls cruise in from the east, they are often able to hover instead of flapping wings.  This guy is cruising on by.

 There were many squirrels keeping an eye on me as I hiked past the trees in their 'neighbourhood'.

When doing macrophotography or flower closeups, I usually look for pollen-covered bees.  In this case the insect was an ant.  For some reason it's less satisfying to photograph an ant than a bee, but here he is.

Short story: The Prisma app was used on this photo of a Red Winged Blackbird to give more of a painterly look.  Longer story: The bird was actually flying too close to distractions such as garbage cans so the bird was plucked off that image (using Touch Retouch and then Photo Cutout apps), then it was superimposed on the background using the Prisma app with final cleanup in the Snapseed app.

 The clouds always add to a lakeside view, especially when the water is calm and you can get the reflections.

On my old iPad is an app called iLightning 2.  That app automatically takes a few shots whenever it senses a flash of lightning.  In this case I set the iPad down on a piece of outside furniture and went inside to watch golf on TV.  When I came back to the iPad, this gem of a lightning capture was waiting for me!

The beautiful summer weather this year has brought many kinds of watercraft to our part of Lake Ontario, including this stand up paddleboarder.  Photo was edited using the Prisma app.

 Lake Ontario is calm on this deep blue evening.

The sun is peeking through these flowers on its way down.

This young lady is looking at the dandelion in her hand.  The MySketch app was used on the original photo to give it this look.

This is one of the many lovely views at the Fieldstone Winery in Vineland.  The purple flowers in the foreground flowerbed take your eyes into the grapevines in the distance.

A few minutes before sunrise in this photo and the clouds in the sky glow in beautiful orange.

This lighthouse leads the way to the entrance to the Port of Grimsby.

This a view of some of the vines at Cave Spring vineyard.  It was a beautiful day for a hike.  The trail head at Cave Springs goes up the Niagara Escarpment to meet the Bruce Trail.

I love sunrises from my balcony where I can get an unobstructed view of the sun popping up over Lake Ontario.

These shots are from last night's Sturgeon Moon.  I had the iPhone 11 Pro Max connected to my spotting scope and waited for moonrise.  Watching the moon come up over the hill, I thought there was a tall tree interfering with my shot.  A closer look through the spotting scope showed that it was a wifi tower and the photo turned out quite nicely with the tower in front.  Luminar was used to adjust the clarity and lighting.  

These are empty wine bottles filled with tiny lights and reflecting off a glass table and glass wall.  It's a nice way to sit outside on an evening for a glass from a real wine bottle.

This flash was complements of someone who had a good set of fireworks and was celebrating Victoria Day 2022 on a beach in Grimsby Ontario.

I love the Portrait setting on the iPhone for giving background options on portraits.  This young lady, adorned in red, looks best on the back background option.

I spotted this kite surfer enjoying a windy day on Lake Ontario.  Long distance photography is a challenge for the iPhone 11 Pro Max but I managed to get a few decent shots.

 While out for a hike on the Bruce Trail near Cave Springs, my daughter and I happened upon this face carved in a rock.

Here we have a swan meets duck moment.  Could have been nasty but they decided to each stay in their own lane.

 I like the contrast of the pink flowers against the deep blue sky in this shot.
