Lion Pride

Image
I haven't been blogging in a while, busy with post Christmas and New Year plans.  Here is a lovely Midjourney-generated image of three lions.  It reminds me of my trip many years ago to five game parks in Kenya and Tanzania.

Double Exposure Watercolour

Image
I'm trying to learn more types of AI generated styles and this image from Midjourney combines a double exposure (lion and trees) with a watercolour style.  It really does remind me of when I was on safari in Tanzania and Kenya.

Safari Memories

Image
I generated this tall image using Midjourney AI as a reminder of a safari in Africa many years ago.  I took so many giraffe photos with my old Minolta SRT 201 that the people I was on safari with started making fun of me.  "Look, over there.  There's a giraffe you havent photographed yet!"  Well, now with the help of Midjourney, I can generate all the giraffe images that I want!

Travel to Africa

Image
Yesterday's blog entry showed how images generated by Midjourney can take you to a different place and time, most interesting if it reflects an important point in your life.  Here are two more images that I asked Midjourney to create for me.  They remind me of when I sat atop Mount Kilimanjaro watching the sunrise over the Serengeti and an Acacia tree like the ones I saw while on photo safari in East Africa.  Thanks for the memories, Midjourney!

Lioness and Cubs

Image
Here is another very detailed animal picture, produced at my request by Midjourney.  The AI engine produces a number of possible responses to your request prompt, but I liked this one best as the little fellow on the right is looking somewhere else.

Wildebeest

Image
This photo is a scan from an old slide taken years ago  at the Serengeti National Park in Africa.  The Dramatic B&W app has been used to convert to black & white, and to put the spotlight on the subject wildebeest.

Wildebeest

Image
This pic of a grazing wildebeest was taken on photo safari in east Africa and edited into an art look using the Prisma app.

Too Tall

Image
This photo fits ok on this blog, but on Instagram, this shot is way too tall.  Picture was taken on photo safari in east Africa.

Pair of Kings

Image
These fellows are resting in the Ngorogoro Crater while their ladies are out hunting.

Cape Buffalo

Image
For photo safaris in Africa, the Cape Buffalo is one of the most feared animals (sorry, lion and leopard).  This guy’s eyesight is not great and, when he is angry,  he will do a direct charge at a vehicle!

Angry Lion

Image
This fellow was trying to have a nap but the photo safari vehicle kept pulling up beside him. So he decided to pull this threatening pose in hopes he could scare away the tourists and get back to his afternoon nap.

Branch Meeting

Image
These two furry friends were having a nice chat and groom in a tree in the Serengeti in Africa.

Vignetted Zebra

Image
This lone fellow was roaming the Serengeti. The photo was converted to black and white to match the striping on the animal.  The vignette is intended to allow better focus on the subject and eliminate distractions.  The above edits were done using the Dramatic B&W app. Other distractions were cleaned up with the Retouch app.

Baboon

Image
This photo was taken some time ago at the Serengeti National Park.  The technology at the time was slides.  When the slide was converted to digital a few weeks ago, the result did not have the best photo quality.  Using the Prisma app to add more of an artwork look hides the deficiencies from the conversion to digital.

African Lily

Image
This African Lily was photographed in Africa and edited into a vibrant picture with the Prisma app.

Maasai Woman

Image
The Maasai ladies in East Africa wear amazing bead necklaces. Red represents bravery.  White blue and white represent purity and peace. Green represents health. Orange is used as a sign of hospitality.  Black signifies the struggle of the Maasai people.

Giraffe

Image
This giraffe leaned nicely on a similar angle to the acacia tree in the background making for a well-balanced photo.  Thanks for posing, Giraffe! This was in Serengeti National Park in Tanzania.

Top of Africa

Image
This is the glacier at the top of Africa, Mount Kilimanjaro.  Uhuru Peak is at 5,895 m (or 19,341 feet) above sea level.  Before it was climbed by European visitors, the ice at the peak was assumed to be quartz.  After all, how can you have ice at 3 degrees off the equator?  The goal of the hike is to reach the peak to watch the sunrise over the Serengeti.  To do that you leave 15,000 feet at midnight and hike up switchback trails in complete darkness (except for a flashlight fastened to the guide’s ankle).

Lioness

Image
This lovely lioness looks like she just came through a fight.  She’s resting now on the Serengeti Plain in Africa.

Leopard Pair

Image
These two leopards on the Serengeti Plain are oblivious to photographers.  What are they looking at?
