Pretty in Pink

Image
These shots are from a large pond a short hike from Bachas Beach in the Island of Santa Cruz in the Galapagos.  It is home to many beautiful flamingos.  This was a nice stop on the way to see the nesting grounds of the green sea turtles.

Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay

Image
Sometimes when I am playing with Midjourney AI to generate images, I craft detailed prompts.  Other times, I will keep it simple and maybe just use a song title or lyric.  I asked Midjourney to show me "Sitting on the dock of the bay" and here is what it produced.

Beach Boys in a Bubble

Image
I took this photo last week in Port Dover, Ontario and used the MirrorArt app on my iPhone to make it a bit more interesting.  The summer photo project for the Grimsby Photo Group has been "Hot Fun in the Summertime" and I need to select two to submit.  This may be one of my two.

Peaceful Setting

Image
I asked the AI generator to create a photo of two Adirondack (Muskoka) chairs on the end of a dock and I was presented with a few peaceful scenes like this one.  The other setting I requested was a 16:9 aspect ratio and the AI engine complied.

Blue Heron

Image
This was taken last Monday morning on the golf course (just before I took my next shot and plonked my ball into this pond).  The blue heron was hanging out near my ball as I walked up, so I put the iPhone on "live" and took a series of images as he flew away.  I wasn't entirely happy with the results so I let the Prisma app have a go at some post processing.  This is the output from Prisma on my iPad.

Port Side

Image
Here is a port side view of the HMCS Haida, now a historical site at its berth in Hamilton Ontario.  It is a fun, inexpensive tour through our naval history on this majestic destroyer.  It's also a wonderful place to go on a photo outing!

Reflecting on Quidi Vidi

Image
Still playing with my photos from last month's visit to Quidi Vidi, here is a nice fishing scene then cropped with the Luminar NEO app, and water adjusted in the Reflect app.  I do have fun with my editing apps!

Canada Day Celebration!

Image
Yesterday evening we enjoyed the Canada Day fireworks from a vantage point in a friend's backyard.  I was able to capture many images with my iPhone 14 Pro Max.  This is one of the handheld shots from last night.  Happy Canada Day!

Last Sunrise

Image
This is the last sunrise shot from this location. I've seen and captured many beautiful photos from our little condo by the lake but we have now moved inland and will no longer see these (without getting up before sunrise and driving to the lakeside).  So... here's is the 'last sunrise'.

Swan at Sunset

Image
Spotted this swan having an evening swim by the Lake Ontario shore in Grimsby.

Sun Peeking

Image
In this morning sunrise shot, the sun seems to be peeking through some low clouds at the horizon.

Gloomy Day on the Bridge

Image
There was plenty of rain in the area last month.   Here is my grandson out for a stroll testing out my new golf umbrella and wondering when the weather will allow us to golf again.

Got One

Image
The fellow on the right has a nice fish on the line (or a bad snag) !  Photo was taken on the waterways around Toronto Island.  Cropping was done in Luminar NEO with the CompositionAI tool.

Moon's Up!

Image
Full moon rising as viewed from the shore of Lake Ontario in Grimsby.

Sun's Up!!

Image
Here are a couple of recent sunrises over Lake Ontario.  With today being our house move, I'll no longer have this vantage point for such orange beauty.

Rainbow on the Lake

Image
Occasionally, a sun dog will appear in the sky when the sun shines through ice crystals in the atmosphere to make a rainbow in the sky.  In the left side of this photo, a rainbow in the sky reflects onto Lake Ontario.

Sunrise Through the Lens Ball

Image
I captured this sunrise a week or so ago using my 100mm lens ball.

Longing for Sunshine

Image
The Grimsby Photography Group has monthly photo assignments and last month's assignment was "Under My Umbrella".  This was one of my two submissions.

Toronto Skyline

Image
I think the best way to get shots of the Toronto skyline is from a boat in Toronto Harbour.  These were taken last weekend while on a harbour and Toronto Island tour.

Sunset Reflection

Image
Too much time away from the blog and I have a backlog of shots ready to load in.  Here's a start with a recent sunset in Grimsby Ontario, reflected in a nearby stream.  It was worth getting muddy knees to get my iPhone as close as possible to water level!
