Who Spun This?

Image
There's no sign of the small creature that created this large web which some may see as beautiful and others scary.  I used the Dramatic Black&White app on my iPad to move more toward the scary side.

The Posing Rooster

Image
I took this shot while on photo outing at Puddicombe Farms.  Two of the three creations here are done with different settings in the Prisma app on my iPad.  With Prisma, it's very quick to cycle through dozens of presets.  Here are a couple that looked interesting to me.

Tracks to Infinity

Image
Nothing too radical about this unedited photo of railway tracks running off in the distance.  Photo was taken at Puddicombe Farms.

Wine Barrels

Image
I've been using various photo editing apps to play with the iPhone photos I took at the recent Puddicombe Farm (and winery) outing.  Use of a tool to make things look older or more dramatic is fun.   But the angle of the sunlight on the original is also important and doesn't come through as well on the distressed image.

Squash

Image
Taking a bit of a break from farm shots today and thought I would go with a photo I submitted for a recent photo assignment.  The past month's assignment was called "Hello Yellow!" and it occurred to me that Wyle E. Coyote running through a large spaghetti squash would make for an interesting 'yellow' photo.  So, here he is in this photo that I call "Squash".

Stallion

Image
Here are a couple of horse shots from last week's photo outing to Puddicombe Farms. The colour one is unedited and the black and white was done with the "Dramatic Black & White" app on the iPad.

Looking for a Needle

Image
I spotted this collection of hay rounds at Puddicombe Farms and it made me want to go looking for the proverbial needle!

Farm Truck

Image
I do like shooting photos of old trucks.  They've seen their prime, worked very hard, retired and are now 'out to pasture'.  It's fun to take old equipment shots and put them through photo editors like Distressed FX, Dramatic B&W, and Prisma.  This photo was taken last week at Puddicombe Farms.

Wagon Wheel

Image
Last week the iPhone subgroup of the Grimsby Photo Group had an outing to Puddicombe Farms.  We wandered around the farm and orchard taking photos of farm equipment, old rail cars, and animals before enjoying a nice lunch on the patio.  In the next few days I will post some of the unedited and edited photos from Puddicombe.  Here is the first, an old wagon wheel.

Last Sunrise

Image
This is the last sunrise shot from this location. I've seen and captured many beautiful photos from our little condo by the lake but we have now moved inland and will no longer see these (without getting up before sunrise and driving to the lakeside).  So... here's is the 'last sunrise'.

Bad Hair Day

Image
This creature is known as a 'non-biting midge' and there are billions of these pesky insects around Lake Ontario in spring, apparently good for feeding birds and fish.  A close up of this one reveals what seems to be a bad hair day (?)

Beech Muskateer

Image
This restored Beechcraft Muskateer may be seen fixed to a stand near Mount Hope Airport, Ontario.  I decided to use a few photo editing apps to let this beauty off its perch and into the wild blue yonder.  Primary apps involved were Touch Retouch, Snapseed, Prisma and Luminar NEO.

Big-Belly Seahorse

Image
This chubby fellow is a 'hippocampus abdominalis', more commonly known as a 'big-belly' or 'pot-bellied' seahorse.  Photo was taken at Ripley's Aquarium in Toronto, far from his usually home in Australia where he can grow to a length of up to 35 cm.

Swan at Sunset

Image
Spotted this swan having an evening swim by the Lake Ontario shore in Grimsby.
