Sunsets without clouds in the sky are not interesting. Many layers of clouds add more interest and more drama into a shot, like this example taken last week.
I was playing with a few apps on my iPad including Superimpose X. This is a black bear photo I took at Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum looking at a photo of a honey bottle I took in my kitchen.
This was a rest stop on a morning cycle run. It's not a terrific photograph, but I do like how the Santa Cruz River and the handrail on the left lead the eye from the foreground to the background.
I posted this shot on the blog recently. It is an Air Force parachutist landing on the field before the Arizona Bowl football game. I was playing with the Color Accent app and thought it might be interesting to take all of the colour out of the picture to highlight the inbound flag. Here is the result.
I spotted this fellow on my front porch last week and decided to capture some shots with the built in macro on the iPhone 14 pro max. He was quite comfortable posing for shots, this little grass-poser. But he did keep an eye - well 5 eyes - on me the whole time!
The most interesting part of this sunrise shot is that I am facing west to take the photo. The pastel colours in the sky are coming from the sunrise behind me.
Yesterday evening's sunset gave us a stunning orange sky. Of the many photos I took with my iPhone, this lone palm tree is one of my favourites. Absolutely no editing has been done to the photo. The sunset was that spectacular!
I saw this noisy Flamingo at the Reid Park Zoo in Tucson. He seemed to be yelling at his pals. The original photo looked a bit bland so I ran it through the presets in the Prisma app and was surprised how this preset picked up and then enhanced the pink shades.
This sure looks like an invitation to swim in, or drink from, a lake in a canyon. Not really. I was playing on my iPad with the Reflect app to add water to the photo.
Here is the right wing of a "Painted Lady" butterfly backlit by the sun, taken with the built in macro on the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Painted Ladies are from the same family as Monarchs.
