Tucson Murals (Part 2)



Continuing with the downtown Tucson murals, here are a couple more.  The "Tucson Together" was done as a message during the pandemic.  It's fonts are from nearby landmarks and the graphics are intended to highlight different Tucson businesses.  "Salvador Duran" by artist Diego Roa is a painting of this talented musician and painter who emigrated from Mexico to Tucson. Duran once said (in Spanish), "I sing my paintings and I paint my music".

1971 Jaguar

My Arizona neighbour and good friend, Jim, has a beautiful yellow 1971 Jaguar in his garage (likely the only one in the world whose engine was swapped out for a Shelby Cobra!).  I have been trying to coax the Midjourney AI engine to produce a photo-realistic image of Jim's car.  So far, I am not happy with what I have been able to coax out of Midjourney.  The images are too cartoonish, not very photo realistic.  Clearly, I need to improve my skills working with Midjourney.

Penguins?

I knew we would see many bird species on a trip to Galapagos but I must admit that I didn't expect to see penguins!  These little fellows were the fastest swimmers of any creatures that we saw on the trip, zipping back and forth more quickly than dolphins or sea lions.  Tt was difficult to get a photo of them while they were swimming but I did manage to get this one.

Butterflies at the Desert Museum

The Arizona-Sonoran Desert Museum has a wide variety of visit areas from large mammals to reptiles to hummingbirds.  They also have an interesting butterfly area with many species of butterfly.  I thought one of these looked like a moth and the other a Monarch.   The Docent on duty assured me that I was wrong on both of those guesses.  Both are butterflies and the one that looks like a Monarch is actually a Queen Butterfly, not a Monarch.  The other is a Gulf Fritillary or Passion Butterfly, not a moth.  It shows you how much I know about these colourful creatures!
